Glossary Term: Initial Written Assessment

Acronym: IWA

An Initial Written Assessment is a step within the Modification process under the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC). When a Modification Proposal is raised, the Initial Written Assessment is prepared to provide a comprehensive overview of the proposal and its potential impacts.

The initial report is written for the Panel and must be written for the first Panel meeting after Elexon receives the Modification.

BSC defined definition

Subject to paragraph 2.1.14, with a view to assisting the Panel in its determination pursuant to paragraph 2.2.3, BSCCo shall prepare an initial written assessment of the implications of each Modification Proposal as soon as reasonably practicable after such Modification Proposal is made including an indication on whether the Modification Proposal seeks to amend the EBGL Article 18 terms and conditions and shall endeavour to complete such assessment such that it can be reviewed by the Panel at the Panel meeting at which such Modification Proposal is first to be considered.
