Manage your BSC audit

Glossary

Find out how the audit works and how to submit your information if you are selected for audit.

What is the BSC Audit?

The BSC Audit is an annual review that checks whether BSC Parties and Party Agents are following the rules set out in the Code.

The BSC Auditor (currently KPMG) carries out these checks on Elexon’s behalf by undertaking reviews across a range of business processes.

How the audit scope is set

The BSC Panel sets the scope of the BSC Audit each year on the advice of Elexon and the Performance Assurance Board (PAB).

Following this, the BSC Auditor develops a BSC Audit Approach Document, which describes how it will deliver the work required to meet the scope.

How parties are selected for audit

Parties and Party Agents are selected for audit on a range of criteria based on their overall risk to the integrity of Settlement.

If you are selected for an audit

If you are selected to participate in the audit, your Operational Support Manager (OSM) will contact you to outline the audit work to be undertaken. They will be able to set up a planning meeting to talk about arrangements for the audit and any data the auditor may request.

After this, the BSC Auditor will contact you to finalise arrangements and set out the data and information they will need as part of your audit.

Audit reporting and outcomes

Once all Parties and Agents have been audited, the BSC Auditor delivers a summary paper to the BSC Panel. You can find these papers, and Elexon’s responses to them, with the Key Performance Assurance Documents for each Performance Assurance Operating Period.

Submit your BSC audit information (using SOFY)

The SOFY platform is a secure, online tool for sharing information about your audit between yourself, the BSC Auditor and Elexon. You can upload, view and download information relating to your audit.
