Members of the SSES Technical and Security governance groups will be appointed through an open and transparent election process, designed to ensure balanced representation from across the sector. To be elected to either governance group, candidates must first be nominated. The nominations and elections process will be administered by Elexon, in line with the SSES Governance Framework and supporting governance documents.<\/p>\n

About nominations and voting

Nominations<\/h3>\n

Anyone can nominate a candidate, and\u00a0there is no limit to the number of nominations you can\u00a0submit. Self-nominations are also allowed.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nominations are open until 17:00 on 26June 2026. Nominations submitted after this date will not be accepted.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Voting<\/h3>\n

Only eligible organisations that have registered to vote may participate in the election.<\/p>\n

Only load controllers (including flexibility service providers), ESA manufacturers and distribution network operators will be eligible to vote. Some members of the groups will not be subject to election. For example, Ofgem and Government will appoint members to attend.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\t

About the election process
<\/div><\/h2>\n\t\t\t \n\t\t\t
\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Step 1: nominations<\/h3>\n

1 – 26 June 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

During this period, you can submit nominations for Technical Governance Group (TGG) and Security Governance Group (SGG) members.<\/p>\n

After receiving your nomination, we will contact the candidate to confirm\u00a0they:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  • are willing to be put forward for election as an SGG member<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • understand and acknowledge the duties and responsibilities of being an SGG member, including that their appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of paperwork relating to their impartiality, independence from their employer and confidentiality<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • possess the skills and experience necessary to become an SGG member<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • reasonably expect to have sufficient capacity to fulfil the role for the forthcoming two-year period (we estimate the role may require input of 25 days per year)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          We will also request nominated candidates\u00a0provide\u00a0information to aid the election process, including a short biography and CV.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

          Step two: elections<\/h3>\n

          27 July – 7 August 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

          Voting<\/span>\u00a0for\u00a0<\/span>preferred TGG and S<\/span>GG\u00a0<\/span>candidates<\/span>\u00a0will\u00a0<\/span><\/span>open on Monday\u00a0<\/span>27 July 2026<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Only registered organisations will\u00a0<\/span>receive<\/span>\u00a0the election pack and\u00a0<\/span>be\u00a0<\/span>invited to vote.<\/span><\/span> Registrations\u00a0<\/span>requests a<\/span><\/span>re limited to one individual per organisation who will vote on behalf of their organisation<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Once nominations close, registered organisations will be invited to vote.<\/p>\n

            \n
          • voting will take place within defined stakeholder categories<\/li>\n
          • voting instructions will be issued directly to registered organisations<\/li>\n
          • the process will follow the SSES Governance Framework<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Step three: governance group appointment<\/h3>\n

            21 August 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Following the election:<\/p>\n

              \n
            • votes will be validated and counted, using the methodology detailed in the SSES Governance Framework<\/li>\n
            • successful candidates will be formally appointed as TGG or SGG members<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

              Step four: governance groups become operational<\/h3>\n

              September 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

              Newly appointed members will be invited to an induction and on-boarding event and attend the first meeting of the TGG or SGG.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/section>\n\t
