The Smart Secure Electricity Systems (SSES) programme is a government programme to establish technical frameworks, governance, and policies to securely unlock consumer-led flexibility (CLF) in the domestic-scale market, empower consumers to save on energy bills and enable the scaling of competitive and trusted CLF markets.

Elexon delivers the Enduring Governance arrangements for the Smart Secure Electricity Systems Programme as set out in the SSES Governance Framework.

• promote Consumer-Led Flexibility (CLF), without compromising grid stability, through the use of Energy Smart Appliances (ESA) and Load Control (LC)
• protect the interests of consumers
• ensure policy and regulatory cohesion
• facilitate as wide as practicable a range of SSES Participants in open, fair, efficient and competitive SSES Arrangements

Costs

All SSES costs will be treated as BSC Costs, accounted for separately from other activities.
