Glossary Term: Unmetered Supply

Acronym: UMS

An Unmetered Supply is any electronic equipment that draws a current and is connected to the Distribution Network without a meter recording its energy consumption. Elexon has established an Unmetered Supplies User Group (UMSUG) which is an impartial expert advisory group to the Supplier Volume Allocation Group (SVG) on matters relating to the BSC’s Unmetered Supplies (UMS) arrangements.

An Unmetered Supply Certificate is issued by the Unmetered Supplies Operator (UMSO) to a customer taking an unmetered electricity supply.

BSC defined definition

Means a supply of electricity to a particular inventory of Apparatus in respect of which a Licensed Distribution System Operator has issued an Unmetered Supply Certificate;
